How To Get Around Breckenridge Colorado
Breckenridge is high up in the mountains but a quick drive from the Denver airport. Whether you decide to rent a car (like we did) and drive the two hours or jump on the airport shuttle, it’s an easy spot to get to from Denver.
Best Time To Visit Breckenridge Colorado
Breckenridge is mainly known as a winter destination, thanks to it’s incredible skiing and winter activities. However, it truly is gorgeous, and full of activities, anytime of year. From hiking to gondola rides up the mountain, you’ll be able to stay busy outside from spring to winter!
BEST PLACES TO STAY IN BRECKENRIDGE COLORADO
Vrbo is the way to go when visiting Breckenridge. We stayed at this awesome condo that fit 12 people and had lots of room for all our ski and snow gear. It was also a 10 minute walk to the ski lift and a 15 minute walk to downtown so this made it super easy to get around without our cars.
Best of all, it had a great hot tub and fireplace to relax in after a long day in the snow – ideal ski weekend house!

THINGS TO DO IN BRECKENRIDGE COLORADO
Go Skiing
It’s not a trip to Colorado without some runs down the slopes! I grew up skiing in Michigan but there is nothing quite like skiing in the mountains! We spent two days skiing at Breckenridge Ski Resort (most of us bought one or two day passes) and then rented ski’s from Christy Sports.
One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been and so glad I spent a day skiing!
Snowshoe or Hike
If you can’t ski, snowshoeing or a hike is another great way to get outside! We snowshoed at Gold Run Nordic Center, about a 15 minute drive from downtown, where you can rent snowshoes and get a great wintery walk in.
Another Breck favorite is the hike to the famous troll! A quick walk from town, this is a tradition that’s fun for families and a quick and easy hike.
Shop Main Street
Breckenridge has a great downtown filled with lots of restaurants, coffee shops and stores. Definitely spend a morning or afternoon exploring and picking up some souvenirs from the local shops!

Tin Plate Pizza
Our favorite meal of the weekend was the first spot we visited! Not only we were able to walk in with a group of 12, it was also some of the best pizza I’ve had thanks to their homemade sourdough crusts. Make sure to get their sourdough cookies too for dessert!
The Gold Pan Saloon
A fun saloon type bar that had great live music and lots of room for big groups.

Our favorite afternoon was meeting the non-skiiers for lunch/apres ski here. In the middle of peak 8, those not skiing can take the gondola up and join in for drinks and lunch outside (or inside if super cold!). So fun and the food was amazing as well!
The Maggie
Another place to meet up post skiing, The Maggie is at the base of peak 9 so no gondola rides needed. Come for a post ski beer and snacks!
Semplice Cafe
This adorable coffee shop is window service only but serves up lots of amazing breakfast and lunch items, plus an amazing coffee (get the cinnamon roll latte!).
Blue Stag Saloon
A fun spot for drinks or dinner right on main street, we grabbed pre-dinner drinks here and enjoyed them outside around the fire pits!
Crepes A La Cart
A Breckenridge staple, come to the famous crepe cart for a sweet or savory crepe that you can enjoy around the fire pit or to-go.
Whiskey Star BBQ
If you’re looking for a great spot to pick up food and enjoy at home, we had the best BBQ catering from here. They definitely give you lots of extra food so definitely prepare to come hungry and under order! Mac and cheese is a must!
