As you may have seen on my Instagram last weekend, I spent four days hiking in Sedona and Page, Arizona with my girlfriends. We had the BEST time and I’ll be sharing my full travel guides later this week. However, one of the most important parts of your hike is planning what to wear! Today, I’m breaking down the 8 essentials and what to wear on a hike this spring.
8 ESSENTIALS FOR A SPRING HIKE:
1. Hiking Boots
The most important thing you need to wear is hiking boots! There were many areas of our hikes that we would have not made it up without hiking boots. They also kept my feet from aching or getting any blisters which is key of course. I had this pair and loved the look and feel of them, especially for under $90! Also make sure to wear great socks, like these, to keep your feet dry and padded as well.
2. Hoodie or Sweatshirt
Most mornings of our hikes started off pretty chilly so layering is best. The Everyday Pullover from Addison Bay is an all time favorite but also really wish I could’ve brought this chic Tory Burch one with me! I also wore this Mango half zip almost everyday and then switched to the pants to match for lounging.
3. Bike Shorts
I’m all about the bike shorts trend and I love these for a hot hike. This floral pair is so cute and comfortable (currently wearing) and this pair from Girlfriend really stays up well. My everyday go-to though has been this pair from Everlane thanks to their seamless fit.
4. Matching Sets
A matching set was a favorite look of all of ours for the trip. Girlfriend Collective makes my favorite sets and a few of us wore them all weekend. They come in so many fun colors (loved my new green set!), fit great (and stay up which is so important!) and best of all, are made with recycled items.
5. Sunscreen
Makeup is never necessary on hiking trips but sunscreen is key! My favorite to use is Tula Protect + Glow Sunscreen as it gives a great glow to your skin and feels super lightweight.
6. Backpack and Fanny Pack
A backpack is so important when hiking. Make sure to bring all the essentials like a water bottle or hydration bladder (I loved this for easy drinking while on the move!), snacks and first-aid. I also loved bringing this matching fanny pack to use in town after our hike (only $20!).
7. Exercise Dress
We all know my obsession with the Outdoor Voices Exercise Dress and it was the perfect piece for our sunset hike. With built-in shorts and a built in bra, it’s an easy piece to wear and workout in!
8. Baseball Cap
Keep your face out of the sun (and for those bad hike hair days) with a cute baseball cap. I love this neutral Yankees cap or pick up one on your trip as well!
