Nantucket has become a favorite getaway since I moved to the East Coast over eight years ago thanks to its charming shops, cobblestone streets, stunning homes and floral filled corners. While Nantucket can be known for being lavish, it’s actually a very relaxed beach town where sometimes all you need is a Nantucket sweatshirt for dinner! With that said, it is also one of my favorite places to pack for. From beach days to nights in town, I’m sharing my guide on what to wear in Nantucket.
WHAT TO WEAR IN NANTUCKET
CLASSIC STAPLES
I always tend to stick to classic staples like striped tees, jean shorts and cashmere sweaters when putting together my packing list. I find it’s much easier to mix and match pieces and can work for any type of occasion then.
SUMMER DRESSES
Nantucket in the summer is full of color, so I love to bring that color to match with my summer dresses! I try to stick with linen and cotton dresses as the summer can get super hot walking around.
LAYERING PIECES
While the island can get super hot in the summer, it can also have unpredictable weather and chilly days. Make sure to pack items you can layer with like cable knit sweaters, jackets and long pants for cold nights.
SANDALS AND TENNIS SHOES
One thing you can avoid packing on Nantucket? Heels! Stick to flat shoes (or at least a very low heel) as the cobblestone streets through town can be very tricky walking on! I love these sandals that work for dressing up or running around town.
SWIMWEAR
It wouldn’t be a trip to Nantucket without a trip to the beach so don’t forget your suit! I love a one piece so I can throw shorts on over it to head into town after for a cone at The Juice Shop!
