TRAVEL GUIDE: MINNEAPOLIS SUMMER WEEKEND GUIDE
A new city guide is here and it’s all about my travel guide to Minneapolis! I visited for the first time this past weekend to see my best friend and was blown away by the food scene and city. Minneapolis is super clean, has great parks and activities and just overall surprised me how much I loved it! My best friend put together a great itinerary for the weekend and I’m sharing all the spots we hit!

WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK
BREAKFAST AND COFFEE
Rise Bagel Co.
I’m usually picky with bagels as we’re very spoiled in NYC but this bagel spot was SO good. I liked that the bagel sandwiches weren’t overly huge and they had lots of fun options.

Spyhouse Coffee
After our early AM flight, we went here for iced oat lattes and it hit the spot. A really cute coffee shop with lots of space too.

The Grocer’s Table
We went her for Sunday brunch and loved the market/cafe feel. All of the food was incredible (make sure to get some pastries to go!) and it reminded me of the bakery in It’s Complicated. It’s also located in the cute area of Wayzata so was nice to explore there and walk along the water after.

Northern Coffeeworks
This coffee shop was the perfect way to start a Saturday morning thanks to their homemade pop-tarts and a close walk to the farmer’s market.

DINNER
Young Joni
Truly one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, this Asian-pizza fusion spot had so many cool and delicious dishes and cocktails. Our favorites? The caesar salad, the pork belly ssam, Umami Mama pizza and the cookie plate for dessert. My best friend Leslie made the reservation back in May so definitely book far in advance!

HOLA AREPA
We dined here actually for a late lunch and shared some plates and margaritas. It’s a super cute tropical spot and the portions are huge (make sure to try their famous arepas!) so definitely recommend sharing!

Billy Sushi
I love a fun sushi spot and this one was so good and a great space. We had a mix of noodle dishes, apps and then a few different rolls and loved every bite!

DRINKS AND APPS
Sidebar at Surdyk’s
This chic bar spot is located on the side of the famous Surdyk’s liquor and cheese shop and was the perfect kick off to our weekend. We had a cheese plate and some amazing cocktails before heading to dinner.

The Hewing Hotel
For great views of the city and a fun rooftop spot, head to the rooftop bar at The Hewing Hotel! Perfect spot to kick off the night and walking distance to lots of great restaurants too.
NYE’s Piano Bar
For a fun after dinner spot, we came here for a “final final” and sat at the bar where you can request different songs (or sing them!) at their dueling pianos!

WHAT TO DO
Canoe On The Lakes
We rented canoes on Saturday afternoon and had SO much fun. We packed some drinks and canoed around on Lake Bde Maka Ska and it was super easy and a fun and chill activity! They also have paddleboards, paddle boats and kayaks if thats more your speed!

See A Prince Cover Band
When in Minneapolis, some Prince is necessary and we had SO much fun Saturday night at Bunker’s seeing a Prince cover band. It is cash only here and a fee at the door so come prepared!

Explore The Parks And Rivers
Minneapolis has so many beautiful parks and areas to walk around and explore. We walked through the Mill District on Friday night on our way to dinner and then on Saturday, visited the Mill City Farmer’s Market as well, which is always a favorite summer activity!
