It’s the most wonderful time of the year and that means a few extra cocktails too! I love how the city transforms during the holidays, especially when it comes to restaurants and bars. Whether you’re looking for Instagram worthy decorations or a Christmas themed cocktail, I’ve rounded up all my favorite festive bars in New York City to help you find the ideal spot.
Rolf’s: The most famous Christmas bar in NYC, this German restaurant is filled with ornaments and garland galore. While they are completely out of reservations for the month of December, you can get in their standby line to get on the waitlist throughout the day but expect a long wait for later in the day.
Snowday In Brooklyn: One of my favorite restaurants in Williamsburg has changed their name to a fittingly festive name for the holiday season. Their extensive cocktail menu features delicious and well crafted cocktails like “The Partridge In A Pear Tree” and “The Polar Cub” and it’s a cozy and fun spot to bring friends for a drink or dinner.
The Standard, East Village: If you have a big group, what could be more fun and festive than spending the evening in a heated alpine yurt having fondue?! The Standard’s garden has been completely transformed with heated yurts and festive cocktails and snacks.
The Temple Court at The Beekman Hotel: One of my favorite hotels in New York, this is a favorite to bring parents to for a chic after dinner drink. The hotel is spectacular and super cozy to sip on a drink by the Christmas tree after a long day.
The Standard, High Line: Head to The Standard’s other location under the High Line for a drink at the Biergarten and to snap photos along their neon Christmas tree pathway. Perfect spot to go after visiting the Andy Warhol exhibit at The Whitney Museum next door.
Serra Alpina by Birreria: The Eataly rooftop has been completely transformed to a gorgeous winter wonderland, complete with twinkling lights and a log cabin to eat in! While the food isn’t my favorite on the rooftop (the other restaurants in Eataly are much better!) it’s a great spot to grab a cocktail or mulled wine with friends.
Pete’s Tavern: If you can’t make it into Rolf’s, another favorite is the local Gramercy area bar around the corner. With a ton of red twinkling Christmas lights, this local favorite is perfect for an after work beer or cocktail with friends.
Sippin’ Santa: Need a spot to go before an Ugly Christmas Sweater party? This is the spot to go! The tropical Santa takeover at this East Village bar has festive drinks and silly tacky Christmas décor to get you in the holiday spirit!
