Happy 2020! It felt so good to disconnect for two weeks and spend time with my family and friends and ready to kick off the year refreshed and recharged. To be honest, at the end of last year I truly had never felt more rundown. While the year was packed full of really great things from work to here on the blog to my social life, I definitely over committed myself and put my health and wellness on the backburner. It felt so great to take a step back these last two weeks and focused on setting goals to start the new year off fresh.
Today’s post is focused on the goals and plans I have for this month to hopefully set me up (and help you all too!) for a successful and a more stress-free 2020!
ORGANIZE AND CLEAN OUT
A common theme for January is getting organized and to me, this is always a great step in the right direction. While cleaning out my closet and organizing our apartment (tackled the kitchen cupboards last night!) are on the agenda, I also wanted to get in the habit of organizing my finances better. I’ve already hired an accountant for the blog which is such a relief and I’m focused on getting into monthly habits with my expenses. I’m so excited to see the blog growing and having someone help guide me on what things I need to be doing each month financially has already significantly cut out so much stress in my life.
Going back to cleaning out and organizing the apartment, I’m making a goal for a monthly cleanout around the apartment whether it’s clothes, shoes, old water bottles we never use or candles that have been sitting underneath our couch for a year. Getting rid of the little things each month is such an easier way to tackle messes and nothing feels better than making space! A few favorite organization items I just stocked up on below to shop! Already such a game changer.
RE-ENERGIZE MY WORKOUTS
2019 was the year I really found my favorite workouts but I also struggled with mixing in new classes and taking the time to rest my body too. My goal this year is to focus on incorporating new classes into my weekly routine so that’s why I’m so excited to be partnering with Classpass to kick off the new year! I have been a dedicated Classpass user for many years and it truly is the best way to be able to try new studios and really mix up your routine. Currently, I do mostly cardio dance and sculpt classes but I want to dedicate a few days to doing more low-intensity workouts such as pilates and yoga. Changing things up not only gets me excited to go workout but it’s when I see the most changes in my body as well. I’ll be sharing more about my new favorite classes and studios on IG so make sure to check in there and also you can try for one month free by clicking here!
TAKE TIME TO RELAX AND RECOVER
This is easier said than done, but focusing on my stress and wellness is a huge goal of mine this year. At the end of last year, I was struggling with bad breakouts, pain during and after my workouts and just pure exhaustion from lack of sleep. All of these were mainly caused by stress and I know I need to make it a priority this year to manage. Along with mixing up my workouts, I want to incorporate a restorative or stretching class in each week to make sure I’m properly taking of my body after hard workouts. Getting into bed early is always a goal and something I struggle with every year as I’m such a night owl but I’m making slow baby steps to get into bed a little early each night.
One of the biggest ways I’ve made a change is incorporating Equilibria CBD into my daily routine. I started using the Daily Drops before bed and a Daily Soft Gel each morning. I had to play around with how many drops and what worked best with my body (they also have a team who can help personally guide you as well!) but I’ve already noticed such a change in helping me calm down before bed and also feel more calm throughout the day. You can use code “carlyhill” for 15% off your first order if it’s something you’re interested in trying! I’m also obsessed with the cream which helps SO much with muscle pain and cramps. Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference!
