This year has been extremely hard for everyone but one of the industries effected the most is the restaurant industry. The restaurants and bars in NYC is one of the main reasons I love this city so much and seeing them suffer has been heartbreaking. That’s why today I wanted to share five ways you can support your favorite places this holiday season (and beyond) to make sure they can stay open for years to come!
FIVE WAYS TO TO SUPPORT NYC RESTAURANTS:
1. Buy Gift Cards
One of the easiest ways to support NYC restaurants is by buying gift cards for gifts for your local friends and family this holiday season. One of my favorite gifts I received from my birthday was an array of gift cards for Williamsburg coffee shops. Not only was it so fun to try new places but allowed us to support the small businesses around us.
If you’re also gone for a while this winter, buy gift cards to use yourself when you return!
2. Order Meal Kits and Takeout
With indoor dining now closed, it’s so important to order takeout a few days a week. I shared some of my favorite spots doing takeout earlier in quarantine and for to-go cocktails (one of our favorite activities) if looking for a happy hour walk.
Another fun activity is ordering their meal kits for home, so allowing you to learn how to make dumplings or homemade pasta from some of your favorite restaurants. The Infatuation has a great guide of 56 restaurants offering meal kits right now!
3. Buy Restaurant Merch
A fun way to help your favorite spots is by showing your love for them with their merch! Merch 4 Relief and Neighborhood Spot have a great round up of an array of merch from a ton of different spots (love this 169 Bar t-shirt!) that goes directly back to the restaurant or bar.
I also encourage you to check out your favorite places direct websites to see what fun and new items they may be selling!
4. Donate to ROAR
The easiest way to support is by donating to ROAR (Relief Opportunites for All Restaurants). This organization is helping provide financial aid for NYC restaurant workers and if you’re able to donate a few dollars, it can make all the difference for those affected.
5. Send Food As Gifts Across The Country
If you’re still looking for some last minute gift ideas, why not send your favorite food to family and friends far away?! From bagel kits from Baz Bagel, virtual pizza classes from Emmy Squared to frozen dumplings from Nom Wah, Goldbelly has SO many of my favorite NYC meals available for nationwide delivery.
Love this! I have been trying to support local places by doing takeout 🙂
