With the start of a new year and thinking about my spending of the last year, I wanted to share what were my favorite purchases of 2017. From investment pieces in fashion, beauty game changers and home pieces that made my life so much easier, here is a breakdown of the items worth the spend!
FASHION
Good American Jeans: I have searched for years on a pair of skinny jeans that I truly loved and it wasn’t until I bought these that I found them. I love the high-waisted fit and they are comfortable enough to wear all day, but don’t stretch out at all! I’m already planning on ordering this pair and this pair soon too.
Gucci Loafers: When I went to Italy, I knew I wanted something Gucci has my souvenir and these loafers were a key winner when I spotted them at the Gucci Outlet in Florence. While they unfortunately don’t make this color anymore, I can’t recommend enough splurging on these shoes. They are truly the most comfortable shoes I own and I love how they instantly make an outfit look polished.
Levi’s Wedgie Jeans: Along with finding a pair of my favorite skinny jeans this year, I also discovered my favorite boyfriend jeans. These Levi’s I wear at least three times a week and work with just about everything in my closet. I love wearing them with a slip on loafer and blazer for work and then a bodysuit and heels for the weekend.
J.Crew Fur Coat (no longer available, similar): So this is definitely not the most classic or practical item I bought this year but it definitely makes me so happy! I had been dreaming about buying this coat for almost two years and was so excited to finally add it to my wardrobe. It’s important to buy things that make you happy and this is my winner of the year!
Baublebar Earrings: I had randomly bought this pair and this pair before my Italy trip and they quickly turned into one of my must have accessories. I ended up buying multiple colors because I wear them so much! They make a simple outfit instantly chic and they help dress up my look when I have my hair back and minimal makeup.
Everlane Slip Dress: Everlane became a new to me brand this year and after buying this slip dress, I quickly ordered more pieces because of how much I loved them. This black slip dress is so versatile (as you can see in this post) and the fabric is so breathable, perfect for even the hottest summer days. I also picked up their cashmere sweater (under $100) for the winter and can’t get over how high quality it is.

BEAUTY
St. Tropez Sunless Tanner: I usually rely on Jergens Natural Glow to keep a consistent base color but when I need instant color, nothing beats this. It always delivers a consistent tan thanks to using their glove, that helps evenly apply the foam and build a “back from the beach” color.
Jade Roller: After reading about this tool from some of my favorite beauty bloggers, I decided to order one for myself and instantly became addicted. I like to keep mine in my fridge so it is stays extra cold and help with rolling out any puffiness.
Essie Gel Couture Polishes: I loved getting gel manis but hated the way they made my nails look and feel when I would get it removed. These polishes completely changed the game, as they last 10 days and I can remove myself at home!
Peter Thomas Roth Eye Gels: With working full time, most of my blog shoots are done before work or truthfully slightly hungover on a Saturday morning, so these have become my life saver for puffy eyes! Like the jade roller, I keep them in the fridge too to help instantly cool and reduce swelling.
Glossier Balm Dotcoms: The Original Balm Dotcom was the first product I tried from Glossier last year and I have continued to keep buying these super moisturizing balms in an array of flavors. They have been my go-to especially in the winter, especially the tinted cherry flavor for the weekends when I want to skip a drying lipstick.
Cuyana Travel Case Set: Not necessarily beauty, but these leather cases has been such a great addition to packing all my beauty products for trips. It fits so much and I love that it comes with a smaller case as well, which is ideal for packing all my lipsticks and smaller products. This is also a favorite gift of mine to give, thanks to the monogrammed detail and array of gorgeous colors you can choose from.

HOME
Philips Wake-Up Alarm Clock: My sleeping habits are still a huge struggle of mine but this alarm clock has slowly been changing that for me. It wakes you up gradually with light and soothing sounds, which is ideal for my extremely dark bedroom!
Travel Steamer: I have never been good at ironing so when it comes to getting my clothes looking their best, I rely on this handheld steamer. It heats up super quickly so its perfect to get rid of wrinkles before heading out the door. I also love how lightweight it is so I can pack it for trips when all my clothes get super wrinkly!
Target Mirror: This mirror completely transformed our entry way and the best part? It’s under $50! I also ended up getting this floor length one too to hang and love the way they look in our apartment.
Hand Blender: I just got this for a Christmas gift and it already has proved to be one of the best tools I could have in the kitchen! I’m focused on making a lot of healthy soups and smoothies this winter and this is a great alternative than storing a huge blender.
