One of my favorite things about living in NYC is that I get to have so many visitors come to town, especially my girlfriends! I’ve received a ton of requests lately on what to do and where to eat when in town, so today I’m sharing my ideal girls’ trip guide! Here’s the breakdown of a weekend schedule filled with lots of cocktails, desserts and girl time:
FRIDAY: After unpacking and relaxing for a bit at your hotel or Airbnb, kick off your weekend with fun drinks before heading to dinner or depending on time, save these spots for a nightcap after (more favorites here too). Some of my favorite spots for cocktails are:
While We Were Young: This tiny West Village spot is usually super busy but the wait is worth it for the Instagram shot!
Sel Rrose: Stop in for oysters, fries and cocktails, they have a great happy hour till 7 pm everyday!
Dear Irving: Glamorous décor, fun music and well crafted cocktails
Tom & Jerry’s: This elevated dive bar is known for their long list of delicious (and strong!) cocktails making it the ideal spot to kick off your night with.
Depending on what you’re craving, my go-to’s for girls night are:
Lil Frankies: My favorite pizza and pasta in the city! A must is the lemon pasta, nothing better!
Thursday Kitchen: Fun adult Capri Sun drinks and a mix of Asian inspired tapas plates to share (make sure to order the truffle mac and cheese!)
Old Rose: Another new pizza and pasta place that’s inside The Jane Hotel and gorgeous and delicious! After dinner, head over to the hotel bar for a nightcap.
Tacombi: A fun Mexican restaurant with a few locations around the city, you can never go wrong with margaritas and tacos.
SATURDAY: After a late night, you’ll want a brunch spot that has something for everyone on the menu, and will keep you full throughout the day.
My favorite weekend spot is Baz Bagel, which along with its adorable décor and 80s tunes, has the best bagels and diner favorites like BLTs, matzo ball soup and egg sandwiches.
Next, since you’ll be in Soho, it’s a perfect time to go walk around and do some shopping or head towards Greenwich Village and people watch in Washington Square Park. From there you can also walk up Fifth Avenue to shop some more and grab some coffee and sweets. Some favorites nearby:
City Bakery: A must for hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies
Toby’s Estate: Inside Club Monaco, this spot also has a gorgeous flower shop and Strand Bookstore to look around.
Union Fare: With indulgent croissants like birthday cake, fruity pebble and crème brulee.
Flour Shop: This Soho spot has become the must have treat of the year thanks to their sprinkle filled cakes. (See how I attempted my own here!)
After a long day of walking, head back for a bit and treat yourselves to a little glam for your last night out. Glamsquad is such a fun treat and will come to wherever you are staying to do blowouts, makeup and/or mani’s. The perfect way to get ready with your girls!
It’s not a trip to New York without seeing a show! There are so many amazing Broadway shows to see while in town (stay tuned for my Broadway guide soon!) and is a classic New York staple to do while visiting. If you’re not a musical fan, seeing a standup comedy show at the famous Comedy Cellar is another fun activity to do on a night out. Make sure to reserve tickets before and you may get lucky and see a surprise celebrity guest!
SUNDAY: Before heading out of town, grab your last brunch to keep you satisfied your whole way home. A few favorites?
Egg Shop: If you’re an early riser, head here to beat the brunch rush and try one of their incredible egg dishes.
Pietro Nolita: This all pink spot (my whole pink restaurant guide can be found here!) is the perfect spot for a great breakfast and capturing your last few vacation shots.
Lafayette: This huge space is decorated beautifully, and also has some of the best pancakes in NYC. Grab some macarons or croissants from their bakery to bring back home with you too!
As a reminder, my NYC guides can all be found here for more of my favorite spots. Would love to know where you love to go when in town too!
