Today’s blog post has been highly requested for a few months now so I’m excited to finally share a breakdown of the 5 investment pieces that I believe are worth it. One of the main things I want to preface before diving in is that you should never feel pressured to spend a ton of money on fashion if it’s not something you can do financially. That is the best thing about fashion, there’s so many ways to recreate trends and find lookalike items without breaking the bank. I saved a TON before I made these purchases and made goals for myself to set aside money for when the time was right to buy. To me, each of these pieces are classic items that will only continue to grow in value but most importantly have a special memory to me behind the purchase.
With that said, here’s the breakdown of the five investment pieces I love!
1. Chanel Classic Flap Handbag
Buying my own Chanel bag has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. It was something I saved for years for but I also wanted to make sure I bought it at a time in my life I really wanted to commemorate and my first trip to Paris for my mom’s 60th birthday seemed like the best way to do that! I chose the classic black medium flap lambskin bag with gold hardware as it’s just so classic and I love how soft the leather is. You do need to be more careful with that type of leather but I haven’t had any issues so far and use my bag often. It fits a great amount (wallet, phone, etc.) but the only downside I would say is the chain can’t fully crossbody over me, just only works as a shoulder bag.
Another reason I wanted to buy it in Paris is I was able to save some money on it with the exchange rate. Biggest tip if doing this? Make sure to have your passport on hand when shopping! I made the mistake of not having it with me when I was ready to buy and my aunt and I had to rush back as they were locking the doors. Luckily, after some convincing they let us back in and was able to walk away with it before our last night!
It’s a true classic that will always be in style and I know will be my favorite bag still years to come!
2. Gucci Soho Disco Bag
This Gucci bag was my first designer bag purchase I made and I haven’t regretted it once. It’s the ideal size for day or night and fits exactly what I need. I love the cross body strap so I can quickly throw it over my shoulder and great for running errands all day. I personally love the tan color because it goes with everything and great for all seasons. If you’re looking to buy your first designer bag but not spend an insane amount of money, this is definitely a great one!
3. Gucci Princeton Leather Slipper
A classic staple with a twist, I had my eyes on these mules for months and finally bit the bullet about two years ago. Within those two years, I would say they have become my most worn shoe in my closet. I love a slip on shoe because I’m someone very prone to blisters and these have been so comfortable from the first time I wore them. I first bought the classic Gucci loafer at the Gucci outlet in Florence a few years back. While those are comfortable too, I just find myself always reaching for the mule style more. They really work with just about everything in my closet and have held up so well, even after many miles walked in them around NYC!
4. Chanel Ballet Flats
Another dream purchase of mine was buying my first pair of Chanel ballet flats. I saved my entire first year in NYC and then bought them after my first promotion. I chose the classic black and tan style as they are such a signature look for Chanel. The flats are truly so comfortable as well thanks to their lambskin material and have held up incredibly well after many wears. I love how versatile they are and can look ultra preppy with one outfit or more casual and cool with a t-shirt and ripped jeans.
I also purchased a slightly used gold pair off Poshmark before Paris last year for a fraction of their price and love how fun those are. I currently have my eyes on their new neon pink color – swoon!
5. Diamond Band
The past few months I decided to purchase a few new rings and one of my favorite purchases was my diamond band from Ring Concierge. It’s a classic staple and was able to get it for a great price during one of her holiday sales. I love how it looks stacked with my other rings as I mix both gold and silver rings. If you’re looking for a diamond ring that’s a little more unique, they have so many different styles and all at great prices.
