Today I’m turning 27! This past year was fun and fulfilling but I’m excited for new adventures and lessons this year. I also have a lot of new followers and wanted to share some facts to those who may not know much about me today in honor of turning 27. Thank you for celebrating alongside me and following me along here!
- I’m a night owl. It’s very rare I’m asleep before 1 am and find my most productive hours to be after 9 pm.
- While I grew up in Northern Michigan, I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and lived there in the winters till I was four. My dad is a professional golfer so we lived in between the two states!
- I went to school from kindergarten to senior year with almost all the same people so most of my hometown best friends I have known since I was four years old!
- I’ve never broken a bone.
- I’ve been obsessed with weddings since I was little, which eventually led me to an internship and my first job as a wedding planning assistant at A Day In May Events!
- I grew up dancing (ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, hip hop) and was the captain of my high school poms team as well as helped choreograph my sorority Greek Week routines. I still remember almost every routine!
- In high school and college, my best friend and I were obsessed with Maroon 5 and saw them in concert five times in two years.
- I interned for the PR team at Oscar de la Renta during the summer before my senior year of college and worked in the PR closet, literally. Us three interns shared a desk in between all the gowns!
- My friends and family have made my nicknames over the years to Carl, Carly Hillton and Bonesy, which my dad started because I was long and skinny when I was born.
- In middle school, my style icon was Jessica Simpson and all I wanted was to wear Juicy Couture and pink Uggs like her.
- I talk on the phone almost everyday to my best friend Leslie and my parents.
- I’ve always loved trying new foods and in second grade, my favorite food was swordfish!
- I’m a Broadway musical nerd and know every lyric to all my favorite shows (even though I am a horrible singer). I’ve seen over 50 shows but my favorites are still Rent, Wicked, Hamilton and Spring Awakening.
- I’m a planner and known for being the friend in the group to take over making reservations and weekend plans, which may be the oldest child in me.
- Christmas Eve is my favorite night of the year. My grandma makes her famous Italian dinner of homemade raviolis, eggplant parmesan, veal and endless amounts of cookies.
- My first cell phone was at fourteen and was a hot pink Razor.
- My favorite dogs are Shetland Sheepdogs and grew up with one named Missy for 16 years!
- I have three foods I can’t stand: peanut butter, bananas and cereal with milk.
- I’m easily scared and as a kid, I wasn’t allowed to watch scary movies because I’d sleep in my parents rooms for months after.
- I’ve always been organized but especially in grade and middle school and I would color code my closet.
- I read my horoscope each week but only believe in them when they’re good.
- My younger sister and I are 17 months apart and while I used to get annoyed at her wanting to hang out with my friends in high school, I love now that we all share a big group of friends.
- I failed my drivers test the first time at 16 and love that I never have to drive here in New York.
- I’m a celebrity gossip junkie and tribute that to always having People magazines in my house growing up.
- I’m also great at spotting celebs here in New York and my best one to date was Justin Bieber while walking around Soho last spring.
- With the exception of college, I’ve only ever lived in cities surrounded by water.
- I never drank coffee until I was 23 and now I can’t survive my morning without it.
This was so fun… thanks for sharing, Carly! I too have never broken a bone, and I hope it stays that way 😉
